Custom Handmade Heirloom Furniture. Quality craftsmanship with an emphasis on my favorite Japanese Zen principle: “Kanso“ - meaning a natural simplicity and truthfulness. All orders are custom at this time. I will work with you to create a custom piece of functional art perfect for your home. As my portfolio grows certain pieces will be named and available for purchase upon request. It goes without saying, anything of interest in the gallery page or throughout the site can be made exactly as is or in a proportion suitable for your home upon request.
As mentioned previously there is an emphasis on one of the 7 Zen principles, Kanso. Kanso translates to natural simplicity and truthfulness. Beauty means different things to different people but truth is something we all can agree on. That void in a slab or plank is a part of that trees life. It shows us the tree at some point struggled in its growth. It’s easy to forget or hide our struggle. But to show struggle and growth and tension in a board or in life is living in truth. And there is nothing more beautiful than that. As we progress technologically the definition of beauty changes. As do methods for creation on every level. As people we learn to grow with these changes and for furniture and this business I will be exploring epoxy tables upon request.
